Pontarddulais & District

About Us

The Pontarddulais and District u3a was formed in 2004 and is one of nearly 1000 autonomous u3as throughout the UK. We are part of the South Wales u3a Network and the All Wales u3a.

The u3a movement is a unique and exciting organisation which provides opportunities for retired and semi-retired people to come together to enjoy good company and to learn together.

Membership

We have over 90 members and growing every year.

  • You pay an annual membership fee from April to March. See Join Us for further details.
  • Then join in as many, or as few, of the activities on offer as you want.
  • The only additional costs are for your own refreshments and the expenses of things you choose to get involved in, such as room hire or transport.
  • There are also special events, email communications and a monthly meeting with a speaker which is open to all members.
  • You are eligible to take part in events, talks and groups run by Third Age Trust, the overarching charity.

Prospective members are invited to come along to one monthly meeting for free.

Please note that, for insurance reasons, children or those who do not fulfill the criteria for membership cannot come along to any meetings.

Members meet in activity groups at various venues in Pontarddulais and the surrounding area. The activity groups range across creative arts, bird and nature watching, walking, local history and other areas of interest and pastimes. Some groups make a small charge per meeting to cover costs.

Have a look at our programme of activities and come along and join in.

Monthly Meetings

There is an Open Meeting with a guest speaker on the second Thursday of most months in Pontarddulais Rugby Club. It starts at 7:00pm. See Details of meetings.

Organisation

An Annual General Meeting is held in November each year, which elects an Executive Committee who administer the U3A as Trustees of the charity.

Groups are organised by one or more convenors who will see to the day to day workings and activities.

Any questions regarding membership or group information, please send us an email, see Contact Us. Your email will be acknowledged and replied to as soon as possible.
